On November 5 this year, in a match against Los Angeles Clippers, Jeremy Sochan suffered a slightly more serious injury. He broke the phalanx bone in his left thumb and had to undergo surgery. According to the worst-case scenarios, the Pole was not to play any matches this year. Fortunately, the absence lasted less than a month. In his absence, the San Antonio Spurs played 13 games. Our representative in the NBA world returned to the court in early December.
Sochan shined again. But it wasn't enough
First, the 21-year-old played for 22 minutes in the match against the Phoenix Suns (93:104). During this time, he recorded a double-double, scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. For the first match after the injury, it was a really impressive result. Sochan then played in a game against the Chicago Bulls. After the last siren, he could also be satisfied with himself, although his team lost 124:139. This time he scored 16 points and recorded 14 rebounds.
Spurs played their next match on the night from Friday, December 6 to Saturday, December 7. This time they faced the Sacramento Kings on their home court, whom they defeated away 127:125 just a few days ago. Therefore, it was expected that the match in Texas would also be close. After the first quarter, the scoreboard was tied 33:33. Halfway through the second set, the visitors began to pull away from Spurs and did not relinquish the lead until the end of the match. When they took a dozen-point lead in the third quarter, everything seemed to be decided.
Ultimately, the San Antonio Spurs lost 113-140, a difference of as many as 27 points. Even the 30 points scored by Julian Champagnie, who was the highest scoring player in the entire match, did not help. Jeremy Sochan scored 14 and added five rebounds. Although we didn't manage to achieve a double-double this time, it was another solid performance by our basketball player after his recovery.
The Pole's achievements were appreciated by the NBA on social media. The NBA TV profile published a short video of Sochan making an impressive dunk under a great pass from Chris Paul. “CP3 and Jeremy Sochan make it look really easy,” the description reads.
The San Antonio Spurs suffered their third defeat in a row. At the moment, the Pole's team is in 11th place in the Western Conference table with a record of 11:12. The next NBA match will be played by the Texas team on the night from Sunday to Monday, Polish time. Its rival will be the New Orleans Pelicans (balance 5:18). This will be a great opportunity to break through.
