At least two people died and six others were injured after a silo collapsed at a biogas plant in Flemlose, Denmark. Three Poles were among the injured, local police reported.
On Tuesday evening, there was an accident at a biogas plant in Flemlose on the island of Funen in southern Denmark. The plant was undergoing expansion, and the tragic event was probably related to the roofing of one of the silos.
“Both deceased are Romanian citizens, men aged 20 and 25,” the police said in a statement. “The injured are also men aged 19 to 49. They are two Romanians, three Poles and one Belgian citizen,” it added.
One person has still not been found. – The search for a missing person is ongoing, the work is difficult due to the large amount of concrete and iron – emphasized Christian Rasmussen from the local police.
On Wednesday, the search of the rubble included, among others: drone operating teams. In the evening, the police assured that the rescue operation would continue despite darkness.
Wounded Poles
The Danish Labor Inspectorate has initiated an investigation into the tragedy in Flemlose. According to a representative of the Polish embassy in Copenhagen, “there are no Polish citizens among the fatalities and missing persons.” According to information obtained by diplomats, the injured Poles are staying in local hospitals and their lives are not in danger.
The biogas plant in Flemlose, obtaining gas from slurry and plant waste, has been expanded since 2022 due to the increase in demand for gas after Germany and Denmark stopped importing Russian raw material.
