Denmark. Army commander: We will send soldiers to Ukraine to learn drone fighting from Ukrainians

Danish soldiers will soon go to Ukraine to learn from Ukrainian military modern fighting techniques with the use of drones. Details were described by the commander of the Danish army, division general Peter Harling Boysen.

– during my last visit to Ukraine I asked if we could come to several courses for first -hand learning, now this possibility has appeared – said Peter Harling Boysen TV2 TV.

According to the head of the Danish army, training of the first groups could start this summer. The plan assumes that drone operators trained in Ukraine will provide acquired knowledge to colleagues in their units in Denmark.

Drone training

– We must have the latest versions of different types of drones, and when we need to go to war so that we can take them with us – he said. He reminded that in Ukraine assault drones are extremely effective – they are responsible for over 70 percent of fatalities on the Russian side.

“On the one hand, we must be able to use drones against the enemy, but we must also be able to defend ourselves against them,” noted Harling Boysen. The army commander stipulated, however, that Danish soldiers would go to Ukraine unarmed, and I will be far from the front. Perhaps they will stay in centers in west of Ukraine, in the region Lviv.

Harling Boysen, however, opposed the placement of a one -off large order for the equipment of the Danish army with unmanned aerial vehicles, among others “due to technology that is constantly developing”.

Swap of roles

At the end of March, the Minister of Defense of Denmark Troels Lund Poulsen opened the Military Drone Improvement Center, employing 100 soldiers and civilian employees.

Until now, this dishes have been trained in its country of Ukrainian military, including pilots of F-16 combat aircraft, which the government in Copenhagen gave Ukraine.

The conversion of the role in Danish-Ukrainian cooperation was positively assessed in an interview with the Ritzau agency, Flemming Splidsboel Hansen from the Danish Institute of International Studies. It reminds that Ukraine already has a catalog of over 70 different types of unmanneders. – Investments in drones pay off, we see that large and expensive weapon systems can be easily immobilized by them – he noted.
