Director of the Central Examination Commission Marcin Smolik dismissed

Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka dismissed Marcin Smolik from the position of director of the Central Examination Commission. He held this position for 10 years. As reported by the ministry, the duties of the director were entrusted to the previous deputy director of the CKE Horace Dębowski.

Maciej Smolik was informed about his dismissal from the position of CKE director as of August 9. MEN in a Friday announcement. The new director of the Central Examination Commission will be selected in a competition.

The previous deputy director of the Central Examination Commission Horacy Dębowski, who was entrusted with the duties of the director, was an expert at the Educational Research Institute in the years 2010-2017. He participated in the work on the preparation and implementation of the integrated qualification system. He was an expert of the Education Development Center in the project of creating the core curriculum of vocational education. He was a lecturer at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology and the National School of Public Administration.

For over 10 years he has been conducting research and implementation projects in the field of vocational education and the labor market for Polish ministries and European Union institutions. He represents Poland in the Advisory Group for the European Qualifications Framework at the European Commission. He is a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics, majoring in economics.

Maciej Smolik was the director of CKE for 10 years

Marcin Smolik has been the director of the Central Examination Commission since July 2014. He was appointed to this position by the then Minister of Education Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska after winning a competition. From December 2013, he was the director of the CKE, and from May 2012, the head of the Department of General Education Examinations and Tests of the CKE.

Smolik is a graduate of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, a doctor of humanities in the field of English linguistics and applied linguistics. He is the author of textbooks and didactic materials for learning and teaching English. He is also the author of publications on measuring foreign language proficiency.

In 2016-2017 he was the coordinator of a team of experts working on creating the core curriculum for general education in the field of modern foreign languages.
