Donald Trump does not believe Wołodymyr Zelnski, who warns that Vladimir Putin could attack NATO in the future. In his opinion, the President of Russia “wants to end the fight” with Ukraine “and quickly.”
Trump commented on the efforts of his administration to end the war in Ukraine on board Air Force One in an interview with journalists. When asked if Vladimir Putin, in his opinion, wants to take all over Ukraine, the US president denied, claiming that Putin just wants to end the conflict. He added that he came to this conclusion based on a conversation with the Russian leader.
– That's what I asked him, because if he had to go on, it would be a big problem for us. And this would cause me a big problem because we just can't let it. I think he wants to end it. And they want to finish it quickly, both. Zelnski too – said Trump.
Trump: Russia had previously covered Hitler and Napoleon
A moment earlier he noted that Russia has a “great machine” and had already defeated Hitler and Napoleon, which shows that he can fight. He noted, however, that Putin in his opinion wants the end of fighting.
The president also assessed that “not at all” he believes in the warning of the Ukrainian president that Putin wants to attack NATO in the future.
Does not exclude meeting with Putin in Riyadh
Speaking of American officials expected in the coming days with the Russians in Saudi Arabia, Trump assured that Ukraine would participate in peace negotiations. He also stated that it was possible that “soon” he would meet Putin in Riyadh.
Trump also commented on a possible trade war between the USA and the European Union. When asked about the announcement of EU retaliation for the planned US duties on goods from the EU, Trump said that it “doesn't matter”, because Europe would hurt itself in this way. – It doesn't matter. We will have mutual duties. Whatever they calculate, we will charge – he noted.
