US President Donald Trump reported on Saturday that in the raid of the American army in Iraq, “Fucked Islamic State leader” was killed. Earlier, the death of Terrorist Abdallah Makki Muslih Al-Rufaji was announced by Iraqi authorities.
“The fugitive ISIS leader in Iraq was killed. Our fearless warriors were constantly hunting for him. His poor life was completed with another ISIS member, in coordination with the Iraqi government and the Kurdish government. Peace through strength!” – wrote Trump.
The president did not give the name of the terrorist, but according to the media it was about Abdallah Makki Muslih Al-Rufaji. The news of his death was already reported on Friday by Prime Minister Iraq Mohammed Szia al-Sudani. According to him, Al-Rufaii was killed in the Iraqi Safety Forces operations supported by an international coalition led by USA.
Al-Rufaji, also known as Abu Khadidi, was the deputy of Caliph, as the Islamic State leader Abu Hafs Al-Hashimi al-Kraszi titles, and managed the group's actions in Iraq and Syria – Sudani said on Friday on X.
War with jihadists
The jihadist group over 10 years ago mastered a large part of Syria and Iraq. Later, however, it was displaced from most of these areas by a coalition led by the USA. However, the American army warned in July 2024 that the group “is trying to rebuild itself after a few years of reduced activity.”
At the same time, the US in 2024 announced the end by September 2025 of the International Mission against IS in Iraq, which means the withdrawal of American soldiers from some bases in this country after over 20 years of presence.
IS is also still present in Syria, the group activated there after the overthrow in December 2024 of the Bashar al-Assad regime. The coalition of Islamistic militias took over the power in Damascus, some of which in the past was associated with Al-Qaeda. However, the new authorities declare that they have left the jihadist ideology and will fight the Islamic State.
