The inhabitants of Greenland today decide about the future of their 56,000 island. The fate of Denmark and even the United States may also depend on their choice and the one who will be in a 31-member local parliament. The election campaign was dominated by one topic – not even if, but when Greenland could announce independence. And what would happen after that.

Then it was a bit quieter about Greenland, because President Trump dealt with the verbal creation of Riviera in the Gaza Strip and the most real suspension of weapons supply to fighting Russian aggression Ukraine. But at the beginning of March the situation changed.

A week ago, in the first official speech before Congress, Trump He moved the thread of “Green Island” again. – I have a message for wonderful people from Greenland. I strongly support your right to determine your own future, and if you decide so, we will accept you to the United States of America – he said.

He emphasized that his administration cooperates “with all committed” to take over Greenland. “I think we'll get it in one way or another,” he added.

Promises also fell apart. – We will ensure you safety, make you rich and together we will raise Greenland to the heights, which have never seemed possible before – said Donald Trump. And he again argued that the island was necessary for the states for their own safety and for international security.
