Before opening the envelope with the winner of the best music category, he referred to information about his health. And he joked.
The 2025 Golden Globes made history. Traditionally, the gala organizers invited a crowd of celebrities to announce the winners in each category. The winner of the Golden Globe in the best music category was announced by Elton John and Brandi Carlile.
The legendary singer appeared in public for the first time after several weeks during which he had to focus on his health. In an interview last November, he stated that he had lost vision in his right eye, which was a consequence of an infection he contracted in July. At the same time – as he emphasized – he has not been able to see particularly well in his left eye for some time.

A little later – on December 1 – during the gala show of the musical “The Devil Wears Prada”, for which he composed the music, he said that he could not take part in rehearsals for the show. – I'm watching it with great difficulty, but I listened to it with joy and it sounded great today – he confessed.

During the Golden Globes, John began by confessing that it was a “special night” for him to be present at the gala. – I don't know if you know, but there has been a lot of information about my deteriorating eyesight. I would just like to assure everyone that it is not as bad as it may seem. So I'm happy to be here, together with my partner Rihanna, he joked, looking at Carlile.
Then he opened the envelope, and when it turned out that the Golden Globe went to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for the film “Challengers”, John couldn't hide his joy, shouting: “yeah!”
