– It's good that Mateusz Morawiecki waived his immunity. The case will be able to be processed faster in the prosecutor's office and charges can be brought faster – said Deputy Minister of Justice Arkadiusz Myrcha (KO) in “Kropka nad i”. Investigators want to bring charges against the former prime minister in connection with the organization of envelope elections.
Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Piotr Zgorzelski (PSL-Trzecia Droga) and Deputy Minister of Justice Arkadiusz Myrcha (Civic Coalition) commented in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 on the decision of the former prime minister, and now PiS MP Mateusz Morawiecki about waiving his immunity. Last Thursday, the Sejm received a request from the prosecutor's office to overrule Morawiecki in connection with the case of envelope elections in 2020. The former prime minister then declared that he would waive his immunity.
– It is clear that the opposition serves Mr. Morawiecki, because he is finally starting to keep his words – said Myrcha. – It's good that he resigned. The case will be able to be processed faster in the prosecutor's office and charges can be brought faster – added the deputy head of the Ministry of Justice.
– In the case of Mr. Morawiecki, the situation is even stronger because the administrative courts have clearly stated that the law was grossly violated when issuing the decision by ordering the elections to be conducted by Poczta Polska. So here the prosecutor's office has additional arguments – he pointed out.
“Morawiecki is now at the disposal of the justice system”
Zgorzelski, however, said that “there are always two schools of thought.” – The first one that says that even if the case is difficult, it is worth not giving up your immunity, because there is a chance to present your arguments in front of public opinion and the high Parliament. Others claim that by taking shortcuts, they will achieve justice faster and waive this immunity, avoiding voting, which – if they are opposition MPs – knows what the end would be – he explained.
In his opinion, “there is no doubt that the parties forming a democratic government would know how to vote.”
– Therefore, Prime Minister Morawiecki is now at the disposal of the justice system – added the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm.
When asked who else, apart from Morawiecki, should be responsible for the envelope elections, Zgorzelski replied that the current PiS MP Jacek Sasinwho was the Minister of State Assets at the time. He pointed out that his name appears in the report of the investigative committee on envelope elections.

PiS settlements. “We still have in front of us how much harm has been done”
TVN24 guests also commented on the voices appearing in the political debate that the government coalition is dragging its feet when it comes to holding PiS to account.
– I believe that the Minister (of Justice) Adam) Bodnar and his colleagues (…) are really doing a great job. Even if recently published reportwhich is only part of what the team of prosecutors will show – said Deputy Marshal Zgorzelski. – We still have in front of us how much bad has been done over the last eight years. How much the foundations of liberal democracy have been undermined over eight years – he added.

Myrcha noted that “we cannot ignore the situation we find ourselves in at the end of 2023.” – If we remember the public discussion back then, everyone asked the question: Will anything be done at all in this prosecutor's office? There were attempts to concrete it, he said. He also pointed out that criminal proceedings had been initiated and immunities had been lifted.
– The prosecutor's office was the institution that everyone mentioned in one breath as the most damaged by the PiS rule. And today, this rebuilding prosecutor's office is making very strenuous efforts to settle all the irregularities of the previous government – argued the deputy minister.
