Fraudsters are sending fake text messages that imitate alerts from the Government Security Center (RCB) and contain suspicious links, the RCB warns. You should not click on them or respond to the message. Real alerts do not contain links or requests to click.
“Attention! Fake text messages pretending to be RCB Alert” – the Government Security Center warned on social media late Monday evening.
Fake messages are being sent
“We have received information that fake SMS messages are being sent out that try to impersonate RCB Alerts and contain suspicious links. We would like to remind you that real RCB Alerts do not contain links or requests to click on the link,” the statement explained.
RCB reminded that in order to make sure that the received alert is authentic, you can verify it through the official website of the Office (www.gov.pl/rcb) and its profiles on social mediaincluding on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/rzadowecentrumbezpieczenstwa/) and portal X (https://x.com/RCB_RP).
“If you receive a message that looks like an RCB Alert but contains a link or raises your concerns, please do not click on the link or respond to the message. Be careful!” – RCB appealed.
Warning against contact with flood water
On Monday, the RCB published an alert addressed to people staying in the Lower Silesia, Opole and Silesian provinces, in which it warns that contact with flood water may pose a threat to the health of people and animals. The RCB recommends avoiding contact with flood water and wearing waterproof clothing and wellingtons. It is recommended that after each contact with flood water or objects contaminated with it, hands be washed thoroughly with soap and water for at least 30 seconds. The RCB also reminds to use only filtered or bottled water for drinking and preparing meals. As emphasized, flood water may contain dangerous pathogens and chemicals.
Also on Monday, the RCB appealed to residents of the southern counties in the same three voivodeships, where a state of natural disaster is in force, not to climb flood embankments or approach hydrotechnical facilities.
Flood in Poland
Flooding in Poland began on Saturday with heavy rainfall in the southwestern part of the country. On the night from Monday to Tuesday, the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management – National Research Institute reported that alarm states were recorded at 76 hydrological stations, and warning states – at 40.
