Two people with burns were taken to hospital, but no other residents were injured. This is the summary of the event that took place on Thursday morning in Czaplinek (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). The tenants were saved by a carbon monoxide detector that warned them about the fire.
A fire broke out in the attic of one of the terraced houses in Czaplinek (West Pomeranian Voivodeship) at ul. Drahimska. It exploded around 10:30 a.m.
Before the fire brigade arrived, 15 people evacuated from the building. They were warned by a carbon monoxide detector. Two people with burns were transported to hospital.
At the height of the fire, 20 fire brigades and over 70 firefighters were present on site. According to the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Drawsko Pomorskie, two apartments burned down completely. Two others were flooded while the fire was being extinguished and are also uninhabitable. Thanks to the intervention of firefighters, four apartments were saved.
Mayor Czaplinek, law enforcement services and social welfare representatives are coordinating help for residents affected by the fire. Currently, demolition work and extinguishing of individual fire spots are ongoing.
