Flight of another object over Poland. Is there anything to fear

On Wednesday, just in the morning, the Falcon 9 Space X rocket was deorbitation, and its remains entered the atmosphere over Poland, which was confirmed by the Polish Space Agency. The phenomenon could be observed in the sky – it was like a meteor rain. Since yesterday, unidentified objects that are to be part of the machine are found in Poland.

Speculation about another potential deorbitation over Poland was started by Wednesday's post in the social media of the spokesman of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. Jacek Dobrzyński informed in it about the “next potential object”, which can enter the atmosphere over 12 European countries on Thursday, including Poland.

“The object is part of the load -bearing rocket elevated on February 8 as part of the Kinesis commercial mission, which started from New Zealand,” reads the spokesman of the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

Does today's Electron rocket flight a similar threat? As reported by Karol Wójcicki, author of the profile “with the head in the stars”, an object that is to enter the atmosphere is the second degree of the Electron rocket company Rocket Lab, which is able to carry a 300-kilo load to the low Earth's orbit. The author of the blog emphasized that it is a rocket intended to take small satellites to orbit, and the second degree mass itself is 250 kilograms, and its diameter is about 1.2 meters.

For comparison, the second rank of Falcon 9, which burned over Poland yesterday, had a diameter of about 3.7 meters, a length of over 10 meters and a weight of about four tons.

“The second degree of Electron is a baby that does not have enough large and durable elements that could survive the atmosphere – unlike Falcona 9” – wrote astronomy popularizer.

The author of the blog “With a head in the stars” also drew attention to the trajectory of the Electron rocket flight. The available data shows that the so -called deorbitation window (i.e. the time in which the object can enter the atmosphere) will take several hours and will start around about 17.30 Polish time. Then the second degree of rocket will be above Poland only once – for 50 seconds.

According to Karol Wójcicki, “the building will fly over the territory of Poland around 20.29.50 from the Czech Republic at the height of Wałbrzych.”

“During the flight over Poland, the rocket will be at a height of over 230 kilometers. Entering the atmosphere could occur when the rocket is closer to the perigeum, i.e. the greatest rapprochement to the ground, and this will happen 20 minutes later in relation to each flight over Europe, i.e. when the rocket is already on the ocean Calm at an altitude of about 150 km ” – summed up Wójcicki.

In his opinion, there is nothing to fear. “During the flight over the Polish object, the object will move in the shade of the earth, so the point itself would not be seen. The chances that it will enter the atmosphere are close to zero” – he added.
