The flood continues. As many as 431 educational institutions in areas through which the great flood has passed or is passing are closed. In connection with this, we are organizing green schools for students – informed the Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka, who took part in a meeting of the crisis team in Wrocław.

The Minister of Education informed at a staff meeting attended by, among others, the Prime Minister Donald Tuskthat in the area affected by the state of natural disaster related to the flood there are 3,044 facilities, in which a total of 412 thousand children and young people from these areas study.

– We are of course ready to take the most targeted actions possible to help all those who are victims of the flood as quickly and efficiently as possible – she stressed.

Citing data from Friday, she said that 431 facilities are closed. – Some of them are destroyed or completely destroyed. We are ready (…) to support them in rebuilding as soon as possible – Nowacka noted.

Nowacka: we organize green schools for students from flood areas

The boss MEN She stressed, however, that it is students who currently need help the most.

– We are prepared to organize green schools for all children who will need such help, who are (…) victims of the flood – she noted. She also stated that PKP will provide free transport to children who will be going to outdoor schools, and local governments will provide accommodation and meals.

She also appealed to local government officials to report via the website zieloneszkoly.men.gov.pl centers where children and young people can stay. When students are there, curators will check these places.

– They will check whether it is a safe place, whether children can stay there, whether they have additional activities. It is not about just having a nice time, but also about having an educational value and the value of psychological support – she noted. – We are ready to accept all children who need help – she added.

She also informed that the first group of students will set off for a green school trip on Sunday. – A big thank you to the city of Sopot. 60 kids are leaving from Kłodzko and will be there for two weeks thanks to the support of this local government – she said.

Prime Minister: emotions are running high in Głogów and Nowa Sól

The staff meeting was attended by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who noted that “emotions are certainly running high in both Głogów and Nowa Sól” in connection with the approaching flood wave there.

– At the same time, we are preparing for activities related to the effects of flooding rather than the fight against high water levels – he added.

Due to the flood crisis in southwestern Poland, crisis management teams are held every day with the participation of Prime Minister Tusk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the head of Ministry of Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak and other ministers, military commanders and heads of services, as well as representatives of local authorities.
