The situation in the flooded areas is monitored by Bayraktar drones. This is done between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. – informed the General Commander of the Armed Forces, General Marek Sokołowski. The actions taken by the army in connection with the flood do not interfere with the operation to protect the Polish-Belarusian border – he assured.

General Marek Sokołowski informed during the crisis management team meeting in Wrocław on Wednesday morning that drones Bayraktar monitor the situation in the flooded areas from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. He said that 19 helicopters were also at his disposal.

Engineering reconnaissance

General Sokołowski also reported that the army is conducting engineering reconnaissance, i.e. assessment of flood effects and support possibilities in the towns of Kłodzko, Stronie, Lądek and Głuchołazy. – All tasks are being carried out on an ongoing basis – he assured.

Sokołowski noted that the actions taken by the Polish Army in connection with the flood do not disrupt the operation of protecting the Polish-Belarusian border, nor combat shifts conducted throughout the country. – It is all coordinated, there are no negative events – he said.

Unplanned task

The commander of the Territorial Defense Forces, General Krzysztof Stańczyk, reported that the army took part in an “unplanned task” in Oława, where a leak from the embankment occurred on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. – The task was and is still being carried out by 120 soldiers – he announced. On Tuesday at 8 p.m. the army finished strengthening the embankments in Mietków and Wawrzeńczyce.

– In addition, we carried out tasks related to removing the effects of the element. We distributed meals. Today we plan 1,800 soldiers to carry out tasks in Kłodzko, Stronie, Lewin Brzeski and Lądek Zdrój – he said. He added that the army in these towns is also distributing meals.

– We are also carrying out tasks in Szprotawa and Żagań, mainly in the lower reaches of the Odra River – added Krzysztof Stańczyk.
