Fram2 mission started. The crew of the Crew Dragon “Resilience” capsule will spend four days in the polar orbit – this is the first manned mission, the route of which runs over around the peak areas. Civil astronauts are planning to conduct over 20 experiments.
The mission started on Monday, March 31 at 21.47 of the Eastern time with the Kennedy Space Center NASA in Florida. In Poland, it was 3,47 in the morning on Tuesday, April 1. The flight operator, SpaceX, confirmed that the Crew Dragon “Resilience” Crew capsule with a four -person crew was successfully placed in orbit.
Crew Dragon was taken to an unusual orbit – polar, i.e. running over the poles of the Earth. This is the first time people fly with such a mission. As explained by Adam Hurcewicz on the page “About Space and Astronautics”, in this orbit, sunlight is more cumulative and penetrates deeper into the atmosphere. “It is simply less pleasant to man, more dangerous in the long run. But this mission will last 4 days so nothing will happen to the crew” – he explained.
The name of the mission refers to the Norwegian ship Fram, which at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries conducted key expeditions to the North and South Pole.
Who will be on board?
The mission commander Chun Wang from Malta, who made a fortune on cryptocurrencies, take part in the mission. It was he who financed this cosmic undertaking. The sum of the money he paid to SpaceX for conducting the mission was not disclosed – writes CNN.
In addition to him, on board the Crew Dragon capsule were the Norwegian film director Jannicke Mikkelsen, a German robotics researcher Rabea Rogge and Australian traveler and polar farmer Eric Philips. Rogge is the first German astronaut in history in extraterrestrial space.
X -ray photo, polar aurora and mushrooms
During the multi -day mission, the crew will examine the earth from the polar orbit and will fly over the polar regions of the Earth for the first time. Over 20 experiments will be carried out, which are aimed at increasing the capabilities of people during a long -term stay in the space. The Fram2 crew in orbit also plans to take the first X -ray photo in spaceconduct exercise tests to maintain muscle and skeletal mass and grow fungi in conditions of microgravity.
The crew wants to try to see too northern lights from space.
In addition, after a safe return to Earth, the crew plans to leave the Dragon spacecraft without additional medical and operational assistance, helping scientists characterize the ability of astronauts to perform independent functional tasks after a short and long time in space.
“The mission that has not yet been”
“If you think that everything has already been achieved in manned space flights, then think again! There are many indications that today a mission that has not been yet. Because believe me or not, but people never flew in space over earthly poles” – wrote the popularizer of astronomy Karol Wójcicki in social media.
