– An 86-year-old resident of the Ciechanów district informed the police that he received a call from a man who… informed him that he would deliver two letters. After a while, another man called the same phone number and introduced himself as a police officer. He informed the 86-year-old that he was on the trail of criminals who attacked seniors in their apartments and robbed them. He convinced his interlocutor that the person who had called him earlier belonged to this criminal group.

– He embarrassed an 86-year-old man by saying that thieves would be watching his house to rob him. He warned that they could even spray gas. The fake policeman asked him if he had any money at home. The injured party counted the cash he had and, on the orders of the alleged policeman, packed it into a bag, which he left in front of the entrance gate to the property – adds Asp. Magda Sakowska.

After collecting the money, the fraudster called the man again with information that the criminals had been arrested and he would get his money back the next day. However, when this did not happen, the 86-year-old realized that he had fallen victim to fraud.

He lost PLN 23,000.

An 80-year-old woman from Siedlce was called by a man who asked for her address because he had a parcel to leave for her. After a while she got another call. – This time a woman called, introduced herself as a policewoman and told her that men pretending to be employees of the post office or courier company wanted to rob her and to catch them in the act she had to help the police. She agreed, and then the fake policewoman told her to pack all the money and gold jewelry she had at home into a bag and put it in front of her front door, on the staircase, and wait for the criminals to be arrested and the police to contact her. She heard from the “policewoman” that everyone was ready for action and could start. After that, the elderly woman put the bag with money and jewelry outside the apartment and waited – described in the statement by comm. Ewelina Radomyska from the Siedlce police.

After a few moments, the woman looked out at the cage and the bag in front of the door was no longer there. She then continued the conversation with the “policewoman”, who informed her that the thieves were arrested and that she would get her valuables back soon. Then, she was to be shown the images of the perpetrators, and the prosecutor was to arrive at the scene. However, no one came forward.

The woman lost PLN 80,000 this way.
