We want to extend the maximum energy price, and whether it will be the current one depends on the program budget, said Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister of Climate and Environment. She also added that the ministry does not rule out a “return to systemic solutions” in the coming years, i.e. support in the form of a protective allowance.
– I am waiting for the discussion at the Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers so that we can finally determine the level of the budget we have for energy shields and then, on this basis, we will be able to write and submit to the Council of Ministers for approval a specific act with specific solutions – said Hennig-Kloska.
She emphasized that The aim of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage is to extend the maximum price. – This is our goal, we want to extend the maximum price, whether it will be the current one, it depends on the program budget – she noted.
She informed that at the moment, 2 million 400 thousand people had used the energy voucher before this heating season. households.
Minister of Climate on protective support
– This costs us approximately PLN 1 billion and we will see to what extent we will be able to implement a system solution that will work in a similar way. We would like to replace such incidental solutions with… long-term, target solutions that will become a permanent part of the social assistance system – announced the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment. She added that the ministry was already working on a law on this matter.
– If these system solutions come into force, it will probably be in 2026 at the earliest, so next year we would also need some incidental shields – she explained.
Earlier, the minister told journalists that systemic protective support could be introduced in the Energy Networks Act. – I believe that we need to return to systemic solutions – she emphasized, referring to shielding additivewhich could return in a new version in 2026.
She also referred to incidental, possible protective solutions next year, for which, however, there is no full financing secured in next year's budget yet.
Freezing energy prices in 2025
– Freezing prices for all households for the entire next year at this year's level (PLN 500/MWh) means PLN 4.4 billion in our calculations – she said.
On September 30, the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment said that additional funds were still being sought to support energy consumers next year. In the 2025 budget, as she emphasized, PLN 2 billion was reserved for this purpose.
The current protection act specifies the maximum the price of electricity among others for households at the level of PLN 500/MWh; it is valid from July 1 to December 31, 2024.
The Act also provides for: energy voucher in the amount from PLN 300 to PLN 1,200 for households with the lowest income. The recruitment of voucher applications lasted from August 1 to September 30.
