At the request of the newspaper The Israeli military spokesman's office commented on the matter. The statement emphasized that “Israeli military procedures and orders prohibit the use of captured civilians in the Gaza Strip for military missions that would deliberately endanger their lives.”

As added, these recommendations were clearly communicated to the soldiers and the allegations that arose were referred to the appropriate authorities for consideration.
