These elections will be about you, said Szymon Hołownia, the leader of Poland 2050, speaking to the audience at the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theater. During Saturday's convention, Hołownia officially launched the presidential pre-campaign and presented his vision of the presidency.
– These elections will be about you, not this or that politician. I am asking you to remember that these are your choices, said Szymon Hołownia during Saturday's convention. – You are supposed to be the president of the Republic of Poland – added the Marshal of the Sejm.
Hołownia said that he “still sees Poland paralyzed by the fact that for 19 years there have been those who have been trying to convince us that we have two Polands.” – Two Polands, scaring each other, two Polands spiteing each other, two Polands only concerned with each other – said the Speaker of the Sejm, adding that “this is a world that is beyond my understanding.”
– This is something I would like to end for my children and for all of us. Not to eliminate one or the other side, but to convince them that they can fit in one country – said the leader of Poland 2050. – This is not symmetry, it is a story about community – he said.
– I don't want to have another president of “half Poland” in a few months. It's time for the president of Poland, not half of Poland, said Hołownia.
A candidate independent “of party pressure”
Saturday's Poland 2050 convention takes place at the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theater. Hołownia announced earlier that he would be a candidate independent “of party pressure, of the decisions of party bosses, but above all, independent of the polarizing forces that have been dividing our country into two warring halves for 20 years.”
Hołownia has also been emphasizing for a long time that the campaign will be primarily about broadly understood security. – A strong army, the development of modern energy sources and investing in technologies that will guarantee the reliability and self-sufficiency of our country in the field of energy are of key importance. It is also about caring for Polish children, families and seniors and creating conditions that will allow our country to develop in a way that promotes the quality of life – he argued.
He also pointed out that issues regarding the future of Poles “for generations, not for a term of office” would also be important. – Creating solutions that will last for years has always been my goal, which is why I decided to run for president again. The ideas that accompanied me then remained the same. Our DNA is still close to me and is the credo that I have been guided by in recent years – as the leader of the movement and Speaker of the Sejm. He will also accompany me as a candidate for the president of Poland, he announced.
