Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said in a statement that she is staying in Tbilisi at her residence, Orbeliani Palace, and does not plan to leave the building. The new president, Mikheil Kavelashvili, who is opposed by the opposition, is scheduled to be sworn in in parliament on Sunday.
“Greetings from the Orbeliani Palace. I am here, I will stay here and spend the night here,” Zurabishvili announced. She turned to the Georgians and announced that she was waiting for them at her residence, where on Sunday at 10 a.m. local time (7 a.m. in Poland) she would announce her upcoming plans. “(…) I will tell you from here what tomorrow will look like. I will tell you what the next days will be like and what the days of victory will be,” the leader announced.

The president will make a statement on Sunday an hour before the planned inauguration of Kavelashvili's presidency. Zurabishvili and the opposition parties do not recognize the election of the sixth president on December 14 Georgia by the electoral college, which consisted only of representatives of the ruling party, the Georgian Dream.
