The organizers of festivals and other similar events and even flea fairs cancel events in Germany – writes the daily “Bild”. The reason is the lack of adequate security measures before any attacks. The newspaper notes that after recent attacks in Magdeburg and Munich, more stringent requirements were introduced. “Additional costs are five- or six -digit amounts. Too many for most organizers and municipalities,” wrote “Bild”.

Festivities and other events, such as antiques or Easter bonfires, are dismissed in towns all over Germanybecause according to the organizers they are not sufficiently protected against any attacks – wrote on Thursday the portal of the “Bild” daily.

Canceled festivals, fairs and other events

“I can't take responsibility if a madman really drove people with his car,” the organizer Guenter Fiebig told Bild.

It is similar in the north of the country. There will be no chance to take part in such events as Walpurgia Night (April 30) in Dalgow-Doeberitz (Brandenburg) and “Flooming Wismar” (April 12) in Mecklenburg-Pomerania. The “Pfingstochsenfest” festival in Elmshorn (Schleswik -Holsztyn) was also dismissed – the portal said further.

The new requirements attract “additional costs”

“Bild” points out that after the attack at the Christmas Market in Magdeburg and the attack in Munich, more stringent security measures were introduced. “Additional costs are five- or six -digit amounts. Too many for most organizers and municipalities,” writes “Bild”.

“However, the security of the event should not (longer – ed.) Be a problem because of money,” said the German newspaper portal. “Germany has just taken out a debt of hundreds of billions of, among others, to strengthen the protection of population. Additional money could be allocated to better security of fairs, Easter foci and antique fair. Otherwise, our country will also lose culture,” he wrote.
