A 16-year-old moped passenger died after a collision with two passenger cars in Gliwice. The 49-year-old driver of the bike was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

On Tuesday morning, a tragic accident occurred at the intersection of Ceramiczna and Daszyńskiego streets in Gliwice, Silesia. The moped, driven by a 49-year-old driver and a 16-year-old passenger, collided with two passenger cars.

As a result of the collision, a 16-year-old boy died and could not be saved despite resuscitation attempts. The 49-year-old was transported to hospital by helicopter.

Preliminary police findings

As the Silesian police said in a press release, the officers' preliminary findings show that “the driver of the moped, traveling with a passenger, did not keep the distance behind the vehicle in front of him, as a result of which he hit its left rear corner.”

“Then he drove into the opposite lane, where he collided head-on with a passenger car,” we read in the entry of the Silesian police.

Provincial road No. 408, leading from Sośnicowice in Podgliwice to the A4 motorway, is completely blocked at the place of the incident, and the police have marked detours.
