Głuchołazy. 40 apartments are still waiting for renovation after the flood

In mid -September last year, the water spilled through the embankments and began to flood Głuchołazy in the Opole region. The element changed the streets into rivers, the water broke into the houses. Until now, the city has still not received money as part of the reconstruction from the funds of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.

– Głuchołazy commune submitted an application for 56 million. The application was submitted on time. Unfortunately, it was not considered due to the exhaustion of funds. Unfortunately, the order of applications decided here. (…) Lack of limits meant that for us, for Prudnik, for Paczków, i.e. those of the most injured communes in the Opolskie Voivodeship, these funds were missing – says Paweł Szymkowicz, the mayor of Głuchołazy on TVN24. He explained that although they submitted the application on time, the scale of damage caused that they did not do it quickly.

The money was to be allocated to the renovation of municipal apartments. 40 premises are still waiting for renovation.

– Most of the inhabitants who live in municipal apartments are renovated by themselves. They can use these benefits for renovation and reconstruction, i.e. up to PLN 200,000. Unfortunately, in about 40 apartments we knew that the inhabitants would not cope with this challenge and we wanted to renovate these apartments. In addition, we still wanted to renovate the vacancy, which would contribute to the fact that they would find tenants, of course, of course flood victims – explains the mayor.

The municipality intends to reach for funds from its own budget, so that these work moves, but it still expects to help the government.

– Money is needed here. The scale of damage, the number of these apartments is really very large – he adds.
