A 76-year-old man ran away from police under the influence of alcohol. At one point he lost control of the steering wheel. It hit the fence of the property and stopped in a row of coniferous trees. The police pulled him out of the smoking Daihatsu.
On Tuesday, police officers from Czarny Dunajec received a report about a Daihatsu driver under the influence of alcohol. When they noticed the vehicle, they signaled the man to stop, but the 76-year-old ignored them.
As the police point out, the driver posed a threat to other road users while escaping.
“At some point, on a curve in the road, he lost control of the vehicle, drove off the road, hit a fence, drove into the trees on the property. Smoke suddenly started coming out of the car that had fallen on its side. The policemen, seeing the threat, immediately pulled the man outside,” we read in a statement from the Małopolska police.
He faces prison
Firefighters were also called to the scene, but fortunately there was no fire. The 76-year-old did not suffer any injuries, but the sobriety test showed close to the permille of alcohol in his body.
The man received a fine of PLN 2,500, and for driving under the influence of alcohol, he will be charged with a fine of several thousand zlotys, a driving ban and a penalty of up to three years in prison. He has already lost his driving license.
