The Court of Appeal in Katowice maintained a 15 -year prison sentence for Mariusz P. accused of attempted the murder of a courier. In August 2023 in Ostrów in the Myszków poviat he served a man who brought a parcel to him. He hit him with a stone on the head and took the goods.

At that time, the perpetrator was included in the next attempt to commit a similar crime. The investigation was conducted by the District Prosecutor's Office in Myszków, which presented him with two charges – attempted kurier murder in connection with the robbery and attempted robbery using a dangerous tool.

First judgment and appeal

In October 2024, the District Court in Częstochowa imposed a total penalty of 15 years imprisonment. He also ruled that Mariusz P. would have to fix the damage caused by crime and pay compensation to the victim. The judgment was appealed by the defense and the prosecutor's office, which demanded that the accused a total penalty of 25 years imprisonment.

– On March 31, 2025, the Court of Appeal in Katowice again imposed Mariusz P. a total penalty of 15 years imprisonment. A long, thief plan and courier in the hospital

According to the findings of the proceedings, before committing crimes, 18-year-old Mariusz P. concluded a number of loan agreements that he was unable to pay off-he had no income. Then he came up with the idea of ​​an order for fictitious data of expensive electronic equipment, for which he did not intend to pay. When ordering the equipment on delivery, he used the masked IP number, a false telephone number when collecting the package, and indicated a secluded place of reception – the prosecutor's office described.

A 61-year-old employee of the courier company went to Ostrów on August 29, 2023 to deliver a parcel with electronic equipment worth about 13 thousand. zloty.

P. ordered this goods in one of the online stores. When the courier came to the address indicated, the attacker came to him and twice hit him with a large stone on the head, causing loss of consciousness. Then he took the parcel and escaped. He sold stolen things later in pawnshops. The courier suffered life -threatening injuries. The man was discharged from the hospital only in 2024, but his health did not allow him to interrogate him as a witness – the investigators informed.

The courier company on September 5, 2023 informed the police that on this day a parcel with electronic equipment worth about 15,000 was to be delivered in Myszków. zloty. There was already Mariusz P., who stopped the courier's car and declared that he was waiting for a parcel. Then the police detained him. In his backpack, the officers found a metal hammer, a butterfly knife, rubber gloves, a balaclava and a clamping bands.
