While on patrol, city guards noticed a man lying on the street and a taxi standing next to him. They were convinced that there had been an accident. They were wrong. The taxi driver stopped to help a man lying on the road.
On Monday, October 28, city guards from the 6th Regional Department patrolling Targówek at the intersection of Św. Wincenty and Rogowska noticed a man lying on the road.
“They passed the needy person indifferently”
“A taxi standing nearby could have suggested that he had been hit. After a short conversation with the taxi driver, it turned out that no accident had occurred. He was the only one who took an interest in the man lying on the street and called for help. Other passers-by passed by the person in need with indifference. The officers, as qualified rescuers, carried out a preliminary medical interview with the injured person. He turned out to be a 79-year-old man living at Rogowska Street. The elderly man stated that he had problems with his health and walking, and while returning from shopping, he fell and had no strength to get up. As a result of the fall, he suffered abrasions on his face and hands ” – described in a statement from the Warsaw City Guard.
The man was taken to hospital
The guards informed the emergency dispatcher that an ambulance was needed as soon as possible and placed the man in a safe side position and covered him with a thermal blanket. They also monitored his condition until the ambulance arrived. He was taken to Prague Hospital.
“The attitude of the taxi driver deserves special recognition, as he showed empathy for other people and helped save his health, and maybe even his life,” it added.
