Central information on accounts is a register kept by the National Clearing House that enables access to data on accounts of deceased personsthe so-called forgotten accounts of natural persons and accounts of persons indicated by the court, bailiff, police or other authorized bodies. It allows access to information about accounts in every bank and credit union.

Before the implementation of Central Information, i.e. before July 2016, an inquiry about the account sought had to be addressed to each bank or SKOK separately. Thanks to the Central Information Center, it is possible to receive information in one place – at the branch of the institution where we decide to submit the application.

The service of finding the account of a deceased person by an heir is subject to a fee, but the fee cannot be higher than the cost of generating such information.

Banking law states that the holder of a savings account, savings and checking account or savings term deposit account may instruct the bank in writing to make, after his death, a payment from the account to persons indicated by him: his spouse, ascendants, descendants or siblings, a specific amount of money. This is the so-called disposition of a contribution in the event of death.
