The Ministry of the Interior and Administration indicated changes in the ticket tariff. The proposal transferred to the Ministry of Justice concerns those offenses, the most, are the most serious or the rates for them have become outdated.

Changes in fines. “There are different voices”
– We are waiting for lawyers to ultimately develop solutions when it comes to amendment to the traffic law and the Penal Code. There are various voices of experts, various voices of officials. Agata Furgała, the director of the Department of Public Order in the Ministry of Interior and Administration, talked about the need for changes in the ticket tariff in the Sejm, who pointed out that the ministry notic “the legitimacy of the initiative in the scope of the amendment to” the regulation of the Prime Minister's regulation on the amount of fines imposed by way of criminal fines as selected types of offenses.
“After a thorough analysis, we already have some suggestions,” Furgała informed. She added that the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration applied to the Ministry of Justice for opinions as to the legitimacy of taking such an initiative. She also reported that the Ministry of Justice was presented a proposal of changes. – We are currently waiting for the position of the Ministry of Justice – she emphasized.
Higher penalties for the most serious violations
Furgała pointed out that the proposal considers the most serious violations, such as failure to priority, as well as failure to priority to pedestrians by a biker or electric scooter.
– It is not that we go irrationally with some very high proposal of changes. Only where this amount of seats actually has become outdated over the years and where we see that there are a lot of these violations, or are serious – she said.
In turn, the director of the Road Traffic Office of the Police Headquarters insp. Robert Koźlak drew attention to the need to lower the threshold from which drivers pay maximum penalties for speeding.
On January 1, 2022, the amendment to the road traffic law exacerbating penalties for perpetrators of road offenses entered into force. Regulation, among others It increased the maximum amount of the fine, which can be applied by the court – from 5 to 30 thousand. PLN and increased the amount of fines imposed by a policeman – up to 5,000 zloty.
Also from January 1, 2022, amendment to the Regulation of the Prime Minister regarding the amount of fines imposed by way of criminal fines for selected types of offenses. According to the tariff there, the fines for exceeding the speed are: up to 30 km/h – up to PLN 400; from 31 to 40 km/h – at least 800 PLN, 41-50 km/h – 1000 PLN; 51-60 km/h – PLN 1,500; 61-70 km/h – 2000 PLN; 71 km/hi more – PLN 2,500. These amounts are twice as high as recidivism. In this case, e.g. for exceeding the speed by 71 km/h, more the driver will pay PLN 5,000.
According to the police, excessive speed is the main reason road accidents with a lethal effect caused by drivers.
