How to watch pay TV on multiple TVs? About the multiroom service

What exactly is multiroom? This is a solution that allows you to distribute the TV signal from one antenna to several TVs. The best thing is that each receiver works independently – you can watch different channels at the same time.

Hardware needed to run the system

Let's start with the heart of the system, i.e. the multiswitch. This is the main decoder that receives the signal from the antenna and distributes it further. A converter is connected to it – a small device that allows you to operate several decoders at the same time. Converters come in various variants:

  • TWIN – supports one additional decoder
  • QUAD – can handle two additional ones
  • OCTO – will distribute the signal to up to four decoders

A separate decoder is needed for each TV. This is what allows you to watch different channels on different TVs. The whole thing can be connected via network cables or – more conveniently – via your home network WiFi.

Where to get the necessary equipment?

This is important – you don't have to buy all this on your own. You will receive all the necessary equipment from your TV operator as part of the multiroom service. When ordering the service, just tell us how many TVs you want to send the signal to. The operator will provide you with appropriate decoders and other equipment, as well as professional installation. You don't have to worry about selecting the right converter or device compatibility – everything will be taken care of by the supplier.

How much does all this cost?

It all depends on the specific TV provider and its offers. Prices start from around PLN 10 per month for each additional decoder. Compared to purchasing a separate subscription for each TV, this is a much smaller expense. Some operators even offer multiroom for free as part of more expensive packages.

For example, Orange allows you to connect up to four TVs, and each decoder costs PLN 10 per month. Vectra has gone a step further – their Multiroom Smart system not only distributes TV, but also gives access to Netflix or HBO. NC+ allows you to watch on up to six TVs at the same time.

Smart features worth knowing about

A modern multiroom is not only about watching different channels. You will also get:

  • Recording programs to disk
  • Pause and rewind live programs
  • Possibility to go back to programs from the last 7 days
  • Access to a library of movies and series on demand
  • Control via application on your phone
