Hungary. The authorities do not agree to protests. The demonstrators will go out into the street in defense of equality parades

The decision of the Hungarian authorities to ban the equality parades raises the opposition of society that goes out into the streets. However, the organization of protests is difficult for them. Despite the lack of consent by the court, the demonstrators announce that they will continue demonstrations anyway. One of them is to take place on Tuesday.

The independent Hungarian deputy Akos Hadhazy announced on Sunday on his Facebook profile that on Saturday evening the authorities rejected the application for permission to demonstrate planned for the next Tuesday in the center of Budapest. As in previous weeks, this protest was to be an expression of opposition to the amendment to the Act on assemblies preventing the organization of an equality parade.

The MP associated with the opposition wrote that “as a result of political commands, the curia (the Supreme Court – ed.), Spat it in the face by confirming the police decision about a ban.” “The same demonstration to which the judges agreed a week ago, now for political reasons was forbidden,” he pointed out.

Despite the ban, the march is to take place

Hadhaza explained that this decision means that it will not be possible to organize any legal demonstration this Tuesday. At the same time, he amazed that the rulers “were so afraid of these protests.”

He also announced that despite the ban, both he and his supporters would appear this Tuesday at Ferenciek Square, from where they would go to Małgorzata's bridge. He also announced a similar event on May 1.

For a month, every Tuesday, Akos Hadhazy and his colleagues have been organizing protests in the center of Budapest in defense of the equality parade and against the new regulations regarding the use of facial recognition software. During the demonstration, they block bridges in the city center, which was met with sharp criticism of the prime minister Hungarian Viktor Orban.

No equality parades

At the beginning of March, in the atmosphere of scandal, the Hungarian parliament voted for a ban on organizing equality parades. According to the rulers, the changes are to protect children, prohibiting, among others, providing pornographic content to people under 18 years of age.

These provisions also give the Police the right to use facial recognition software, which can be used to determine the identity of the organizers and participants of the demonstration. For participation in the Equality Parade, law enforcement agencies will be able to impose a fine of 6.5 thousand. up to 200,000 forints (PLN 68-2104), which will not be able to be replaced by social work.

Voting over the amendment to the Act was accompanied by violent protests from parliamentarians from the opposition party Momentum. After the announcement of the results, the deputies began to raise anti -government shouts, recreated the recording of the hymn Russia And they scattered leaflets depicting the kissing premiere of Hungary Viktor Orban and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Opposition MPs also fired smoke candles, and therefore the leader ordered the break and the evacuation of the meeting room.

On the same day in the late afternoon, the President of Hungary Tamas Sulsok signed new regulations, which were then immediately published in the Hungarian Official Journal.
