IMWM alerts for almost all of Poland. Icing, heavy snowfall, strong wind

IMWM warns against weather dangers. On the night from Saturday to Sunday, ice warnings are in force in all voivodeships. Additionally, it may snow heavily or be windy in some places.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree meteorological warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.

IMWM alerts – icing

First degree warnings against icing apply in the following voivodeships:

Podlasieoutside the following counties: Sejny, Suwałki, SuwałkiAugustów and Sokółka;

Podkarpackieoutside the following counties: Bieszczady, Lesko and Sanok;

Lesser Polandoutside the following counties: Nowy Targ and Tatra;

Silesianoutside the counties of Cieszyn and Żywiec;

Lower Silesiaoutside the following counties: Wałbrzych, Kamienna Góra and Karkonosze;

It is forecast that the wet surface of roads and sidewalks will freeze after wet snowfall, causing them to become icy. The minimum temperature is approximately -3 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature at the ground is approximately -5 degrees Celsius. In some places, the negative air temperature will also remain in the following days.

The alerts will expire on Sunday at 10.

IMWM alerts – heavy snowfall

First degree warnings against heavy snowfall apply in the following voivodeships:

– Pomeranianin the following counties: Słupsk, SłupskBytów, Kościerzyna, Kartuzy, Lębork, Wejherowo, Puck, Gdańsk, GdańskSopot, Gdynia, Nowy Dwór, Tczew, Malbork, Sztum, Kwidzyn;

– Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipin the following counties: Elbląg, ElblągBraniewo, Ostróda, Iława, Nowe Miasto, Lidzbark, Olsztyn, OlsztynBartoszycki.

Precipitation is forecast, causing an increase in snow cover of 5 to 10 centimeters, in some places up to 15 cm. In most Pomeranian counties, alerts will be valid until 3 on Sunday. In the following counties: Gdańsk, Gdańsk, Nowy Dwór, Tczew, Malbork, Sztum, Kwidzyn and in the province. Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship will expire at 7 on the same day.

IMWM alerts of the first degree – strong wind

The lowest level warnings due to strong winds were announced in the voivodeship Pomeranianin the following counties: Puck, Gdynia, Sopot, Gdańsk and Nowy Dwór.

Forecasters predict strong winds with an average speed of 35 to 50 kilometers per hour, with gusts of up to 75 km/h, from the north-west and north. Alerts will expire at 5 on Sunday.

What is the IMWM first degree meteorological warning?

The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
