IMWM still warns about very dangerous black ice. After freezing rain, sidewalks and roads will become especially slippery. Level 2 warnings are in force in 10 voivodeships. Find out where to watch out.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first- and second-degree meteorological warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.

IMWM warnings – freezing precipitation

Level 2 warnings due to freezing rain that may cause black ice are in force in the following voivodeships:

  • Masovian Voivodeship (outside the north-western part of the region);
  • Podlasie (except counties in the north of the region);
  • Lublin Province;
  • Podkarpackie;
  • Świętokrzyskie;
  • Łódź, (except counties in the west of the region);
  • Opole province;
  • Lesser Polandoutside the Tatra County;
  • Silesian;
  • Lower Silesia;

Light, sometimes moderate rainfall is forecast, freezing rain or drizzle, causing black ice.

The warnings will end by 9 a.m. Wednesday in most places. In the southern half of the province Lubelskie, in the province Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie and Lesser Poland and in the southern counties of the province. Silesia, Opole and Lower Silesia will remain in force until 19 that day.

In Małopolska and Podkarpacie, the warnings will come into force at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and will expire on Thursday at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.

Moreover, in the Tatra district in the province Lesser Poland Level 1 freezing precipitation alerts have been issued. They will enter into force at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and expire on Thursday at 8 a.m.

The second level warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena, causing significant material losses and a threat to health and life.
