Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued second- and first-degree meteorological warnings on a three-degree, increasing scale.
Second degree IMWM warnings – heavy snowfall
Second-degree snowfall alerts have been issued in the following voivodeships:
- West Pomeranian Voivodeshipin Szczecinek County;
- Pomeranianin the following counties: Człuchów, Bytów, Kartuzy and Kościerzyna.
Snowfall is forecast, with periods of moderate or heavy intensity, causing an increase in snow cover by 20-30 centimeters.
The warning will be valid from 9 p.m. on Friday until 9 p.m. on Saturday.
Second degree IMWM warnings – strong wind, snowstorms and snowstorms
There are also strong wind alerts in force in the province. Pomeranian in the following counties: Puck, Wejherowo, Lębork, Słupsk and Słupsk and in the Sławno district in the province West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
Between 10 p.m. on Friday and 22 on Saturday, strong winds with an average speed of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are forecast, with gusts of up to 90 km/h and over the sea up to 100 km/h. The strongest wind gusts by IMWM they are supposed to occur in the morning and during the day. Blizzards and snowstorms are also expected in the same regions.
First degree IMWM warnings – heavy snowfall
IMWM issued first-degree warnings of heavy snowfall for the following voivodeships:
- West Pomeranian Voivodeshipoutside the following poviats: Szczecinek, Police, SzczecinGryfino, Myślibórz;
- Pomeranianoutside poviats subject to higher level alerts;
- Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeshipfor the following poviats: Tuchola, Sępoleński, Świecie, Grudziądz, Grudziadz;
- Greater Polandfor the Złotów district;
- Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipfor poviats: Olsztyn, OlsztynBartoszycki, Braniewo, Lidzbark, Ostróda, Nidzica, Działdowo, Nowomiejski, Iława, Elbląg, Elbląg.
Up to 10-20 cm of snow may fall in the above regions. The warnings will be valid until 9 p.m. on Friday. 21 on Saturday.
IMWM first degree warnings – strong wind
In the following counties: Koszalin, KoszalinKołobrzeg, Gryfice, Kamieński and Świnoujście in the province West Pomeranian Voivodeship there will be a strong wind. Between 4 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday, there will be a first-degree warning for winds with average speeds of up to 35-50 km/h and gusts of up to 85 km/h.
First degree IMWM warnings – icing
Yellow warnings against icing apply to the whole of Poland except for the following counties: Karkonosze, Jelenia GóraKamienna Góra, Wałbrzyskie (Lower Silesia Voivodeship) and the Tatra and Nowy Targ Voivodeship (Lesser Poland Voivodeship).
It is forecast that wet road surfaces and sidewalks will freeze after rainfall, sleet and wet snow. The minimum temperature there will be about -2 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature at the ground – about -3 degrees C. The negative air temperature will remain in places throughout the day.
The alarms will expire at 9 on Saturday.
