Pension benefits paid by ZUS they are indexed every year. On March 1, 2024, they increased by 12.12%. After indexation, the lowest amount pensionssurvivors' pension and pension for total incapacity for work increased from PLN 1,588.44 to PLN 1,780.96.

It is not known how much benefits will increase next year. We asked Łukasz Kozłowski, chief economist of the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs, to forecast the increase in the level of benefits.

“I assumed that the inflation rate in the households of retirees and pensioners will amount to 4.0%, and the rate of real increase in the average salary in the national economy will amount to 9.16% – which gives us an indexation index of 5.83%.” – explains the economist. However, the expert points out that “of course, this may still changebecause the final indicators will only be known at the beginning of next year.

According to Łukasz Kozłowski's calculations, in 2025 the minimum pension may increase by PLN 94.53 per month “on a take-home basis”. This means that a retiree with the lowest benefit would no longer receive PLN 1,620.67, but PLN 1,715.20 net (an increase from PLN 1,780.96 to PLN 1,884.83 gross).

Larger increases will be given to people who receive benefits in the amount of the average old-age and disability pension paid by ZUS.. According to the Department, in the first quarter of 2024 it amounted to over PLN 3,500 gross. These benefits will increase in 2025, according to expert calculations, to PLN 3,704 gross, which translates into PLN 3,226.76 net. This is an increase of PLN 161.76 net compared to the current benefit.

There is no need to submit applications for the benefit to be indexed, it is done automatically. Each retiree and disability pensioner who was entitled to payment of benefits as of February 28, 2025 will receive a decision on the new amount of their benefit.
