According to investigators, 20-year-old Mikołaj J. lured 13-year-old Nadia to a secluded place and stabbed her several times. He faces life imprisonment for murder with particular cruelty. The trial began at the District Court in Bydgoszcz on Wednesday. It is conducted in private.
The accused was brought from custody to the courtroom. The court decided to completely exclude the public; the indictment was not even read publicly.
The crime took place on October 16, 2022 in Inowrocław. Nadia was reported missing that evening by her father, after which the police began a search. Police activities led to the discovery of the girl's body on October 19 near a vacant building at ul. Długa. An examination carried out on site and a subsequent autopsy showed that the girl had been cruelly deprived of her life.
Charge of committing a crime with particular cruelty
On October 19, the police detained Nadia's friend, Mikołaj J., then 18. His items were seized, including: knife, phone, shoes and clothes.
The prosecutor charged the detainee with committing a crime of particular cruelty (Article 148, paragraph 2, point 1 of the Penal Code). The suspect initially confessed to committing the crime and gave extensive explanations, which he changed many times during the investigation, multiplying the versions of the event presented.
Materials taken in the case, including: the results of the autopsy, examination of physical evidence, biological traces, as well as analysis of the monitoring recording allowed the investigators to assume that Mikołaj J. lured the injured party to a secluded place under the pretense of a meeting, where he stabbed her several times with a knife he had brought. The girl suffered serious internal injuries, which led to bleeding and, consequently, death. The perpetrator left the body at the crime scene. Later, he met with his friends, showing no emotions related to the crime.
Mikołaj J. remains in pre-trial detention all the time. The crime charged in the indictment is punishable by life imprisonment.
Two weeks after Nadia's death, a silent march took place on the streets of the city.
