After a serious illness, the operator and editor of “Facts” by TVN and TVN24 Wojciech Florek died. Although he had been fighting an unequal fight with the disease for several years, his death was a shock and a powerful blow to both his loved ones and the Krakow editorial office, with whom he came across many years of work.

– We came across Wojtek's press ID. Everyone assumed that he would still be useful to him. Everyone knew he was sick, but he was always able to get out of it, he always came back. Nobody made the thought that we would never see each other again. The worst thing now is remorse that we did not manage to call the holidays – this is how Wojciech Florek, a longtime operator and editor of “Facts” TVN and TVN24, recalls his close colleague, a reporter of “Facts” by TVN Renata Kijowska.

Wojciech Florek will no longer receive his press ID. He died suddenly – although after a long and serious illness – on Saturday, April 19. He was 51 years old. In recent years he has been surrounded by warm family support, including his wife and two sons. Although sometimes the conversation came to him with difficulty, he always gladly talked on the phone with his colleagues.

– He loved his house near Tarnów. I remember how he said last year that he went there with his son and spent some time together. We all knew that Wojtek was sick, but he said he was even better. Information about his death was a shock. None of us had the feeling that he was dying – says Krzysztof Całek, head of the Krakow TVN24 center.

Employees of the Krakow station branch of the station remember joint duty. About Wojtek they say: “Installation artist”.

– Each shot in the material had to be thought out, everything had to fit perfectly with everything. He had no place for cases. He was very meticulous. Sometimes we even argued a bit about it, when time was chasing and you had to send ready material, and Wojtek was still pampering it. Over time, I began to appreciate its accuracy. He taught me a lot – recalls TVN24 reporter Grzegorz Jarecki.

This is confirmed by Krzysztof Całek: – Wojtek was a retailer. There were no cases in any of his staff. He worked with us for a long time, he really co -founded TVN24 (the station began broadcasting in 2001 – ed.).

– His life was a bit torn between Krakow, in which he worked, and Tarnów, where he lived. When he had night duty, he even happened to sleep in the editorial office on the sofa. He had his blanket and pillow. He was a permanent part of the editor. Others often went home and he stayed. He was an oasis of peace. It was a voice of reason when others tried to do something as soon as possible when they were narwy. He said: “Relax, we'll make everything with everything.” He was a very warm man – adds Całek.

“The embodiment of the person you are talking about is a nice guest”

– On the other hand, where it was necessary to demonstrate courage or determination to get somewhere, Wojtek always managed it great – emphasizes Renata Kijowska. – When there was a flood, he entered the water with sacrifice. When the European market opened for Poles, we went together Germany along and breadth. He had incredible strength. Wojtek really co -created these materials. He suggested, shared suggestions and valuable tips. And at the same time he was very accurate. There was rather no chance to get out of work before, because Wojtek always improved the improved material – adds the reporter of TVN “Facts”.

– He was the embodiment of the person who is said to be “a nice guest” – recalls Grzegorz Jarecki. – He had a sense of mission – adds Krzysztof Całek.

Wojciech Florek was passionate about, among others technical innovations. – We used to be a joint duty on Sunday. Wojtek called me and said he would be a few minutes late, because he was at the market he sometimes went to. He collected newspapers about cameras, filming, and electronic equipment. He watched and bought them there. He loved hunting for occasions when it comes to electronics. It was nice to listen to how he said that he talked to someone here, he bought new equipment there. He was a 100 % teaser – says Renata Kijowska.
