Benjamin Netanyahu will go to Hungary this week, where he will meet the head of the local government Viktor Orban – the office of the Prime Minister of Israel said on Sunday. Netanyahu has been prosecuted by the International Criminal Court in Hague since November last year. The Reuters agency reported, citing the office of the Israeli prime minister, that Benjamin Netanyahu is to fly to Hungarian on Wednesday. His return to the country is scheduled for Sunday. In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (MTK) in Hague issued an arrest of the Prime Minister Israel in connection with the suspicion of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the territory of Israel and the Gaza Zone.
Invitation from Orban
Reuters reminded that Orban invited Netanyahu to visit his country in November last year, maintaining that the Tribunal's order to arrest “would not be carried out”.
Orban also condemned the decision of the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant of Prime Minister of Israel. The French daily “Le Monde” wrote that the Netanyahu office published a letter from Orban, in which the Hungarian prime minister was to determine the decision of the MTK with “shameful movement”.
Hungary is a member of the MTK, but the Roman statute establishing the court has not been announced in this country because it was considered unconstitutional.
