The National Support Centre for Agriculture has provided the prosecutor's office with the results of an audit summarizing what happened at the stud farm in Janów Podlaski (Lublin Province) during the PiS government. Investigators will check whether there are grounds to open an investigation into mismanagement.

The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Lublin asked the National Agricultural Support Center to send a report on the audit conducted at the stud farm in Janów Podlaski. As reported by TOK FM.

The author of the document is, among others, Marek Trela, long-time president of the Janów company, dismissed from his position in 2016 after the takeover of power by PIS.

As the general director of the center, Henryk Smolarz, said in April (after the report was sent to KOWR) in front of the TVN24 cameraduring the PiS government, when the stud's directors changed frequently, “the prestige and evaluation of Arabian horse breeding in Poland decreased. At the same time, the breeding stock was disturbed.”

And when asked what – according to the authors of the audit – had the greatest impact on the deterioration of the situation of key Polish stud farms (including the stud farm in Michałów), he stated that it was related to “certain personnel decisions that were completely unjustified”:

– This caused a relaxation in the methods of work of the studs in Michałów and Janów Podlaski. Later, there was a huge pressure on the financial results from the auction, which led to the sale – because that's how it should be called – of the most valuable horses from the breeding point of view. Then the carousel started to turn – said Smolarz.

They will check whether there are grounds to initiate an investigation

Now that the report has been submitted to the prosecutor’s office, investigators will be checking whether there are grounds to initiate an investigation into mismanagement.

– This is handled by the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, Branch Center based in Biała Podlaska – says Agnieszka Kępka, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin.

They fired long-time CEOs

In April, “Czarno na Białym” broadcast the report “Animal Farm” about the situation of stud farms in Janów Podlaski and Michałów after eight years of PiS rule.

THE REPORT CAN BE VIEWED HERE: “Animal Farm”

Just a few months after PiS took power, in 2016, the government fired long-time CEOs, publicly accused them of theft and embezzlement, and put its own people in their place. The prosecutor's office stepped in, searched for mismanagement for almost eight years and found none. But the authorities had to change for this investigation to finally be discontinued. The old presidents are now supposed to help rebuild the breeding of Arabian horses in Poland.
