A resident of the Jarocin commune called 112 and asked for an ambulance, reporting disturbing symptoms. Once there, it turned out that what he needed was not help, but… alcohol. He paid PLN 500 for the “service”, but did not receive a single drop in return.

On Friday night, the dispatcher of the emergency number 112 received a call from a 56-year-old resident of the Jarocin commune. He asked for help, pointing out that he had temporarily lost consciousness and felt bad. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene.

– After reaching the indicated address, it turned out that the situation presented on the phone had nothing to do with reality. The man who supposedly needed help, but needed alcohol and hoped that medics would provide it for him – explains staff aspirant Agnieszka Zaworska, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Jarocin.

“112 is not a number for a friend or a friend”

The rescuers reported the unjustified intervention to the police officer on duty, who sent a patrol to the site.

– The police informed the reporting person that the paramedics were not a taxi or a courier. Due to the unfounded report of the intervention, the police imposed a fine of PLN 500 on the 56-year-old, Zaworska reports. And it reminds that 112 is an emergency number that should be used in justified cases.

– This is the number that puts emergency services on their feet, whose task is to save life, health, property and arrest criminals. This is not a number for a friend or a friend that we can use without restrictions and for any reason. That's why the police have no leniency towards those who ignore it, he concludes.
