The European Parliament resolution on strengthening the defense of the European Union “is another example, after the last opinion of the CJEU, undermining the primacy of the Polish constitution over European law, interfering the EU without foundations in the treaties under the competences of the Member States” – said PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński. On Wednesday, his party's politicians were in favor of rejecting the document recognizing the East shield as a flagship project for the common EU security.
On Wednesday, the European Parliament in Strasbourg adopted a resolution on strengthening the defense of the European Union. As part of it, an unprecedented amendment proposed by the PO-PSL delegation in the European People's Party (EPL), recognizing the east shield, i.e. the flagship project of the Prime Minister Donald Tuskfor the flagship project for the joint security of the European Union. The document was adopted by the PE by a vulnerable majority of votes (419 to 204). The resolutions were not supported by PiS MEPs and the Confederation.
The results of voting were commented on Wednesday by leading politicians in the country – including Prime Minister Donald Tusk, head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister Jan GrabiecMinister of Defense Władysław Kosiniak-KamyszPiS MEPs Michał Dworczyk and Piotr Mueller or the head of the PiS club Mariusz Błaszczak.
Kaczyński: Another example of the EU interfering with the competences of the Member States
On Wednesday evening, the Law and Justice leader referred to the issue of voting Jarosław Kaczyński. “Independence is your own currency, your own budget, own army. Donating the possibility of deciding about our security is a loss of sovereignty,” wrote the PiS president.
“Today's voting in the European Parliament did not concern 'East shield', which, unfortunately, has been only an image and not real project for months,” he said.

– The entire resolution concerns EU European defense and what actions the Union should take in the near future – explained Maciej Sokołowski, EU correspondent TVN24.
– In fact, it is an appeal of the European Parliament to the European Commission, EU countries and governments. It is only they will make decisions what projects will be the flagship, i.e. which will be financed not only from national budgets, but from the EU budget – he pointed out.
In the second half of March European Commission will present the so -called The white book on defense and there will be proposals for defense projects that can be considered flagship or common. Then such decisions will be made at the level of EU leaders at the top at the end of March and at the end of June.
