Chain saw cuttings were his main election slogan. In the presidential campaign, Javier Milei promised Argentineans that only radical savings would save the economy. Therefore, as soon as power took power, the new president liquidated 11 ministries and most state subsidies, released 42,000 budget employees and released prices from central control.

In this way, the largest trade unions oppose radical budget cuts. By organizing a strike, trade unionists supported pensioners who began to protest first. In great demonstrations, socially stronger groups joined pensioners. In addition to trade unions, also fans of the largest football clubs, which are very influential in Argentina. In mid -March, during one of these manifestations, there were clashes of fans with the police. Several dozen people were injured then.

Javier Milei wants to leave the so -called social caring model of the state and it must be admitted that savings began to give results. This can be seen primarily after inflation, which was as much as 290 percent a year ago. Now it has dropped to about 60 percent.

– We managed to save Argentina from the worst economic crisis in history. We have avoided hyperinflation and an unprecedented social disaster. And all this thanks to the implementation of ideas that once in the past allowed us to become an economic power – emphasizes the president of Argentina.

However, there is still a very high indicator of extreme poverty, which means that many Argentineans simply have nothing to eat. Milei increases the debt. A few days ago, the International Monetary Fund approved a $ 20 billion loan for Argentina. Money is to revive the economy, including above all to increase investments.

– I support what he does, I voted for him and trust him. Change is always difficult, but I believe it will be better – says Mariano Morales, a chef by profession. – We get indebted all the time, prices go up, and people are already terribly tired. We got a loan, but so what? Sometimes I think that there is no rescue for Argentina – says Estela Garrido, a resident of Buenos Aires.

Javier Milei is sometimes called “Donald Trump of South America”. He admires the American president, he was at his swearing in, and to Elon Musk he presented his chain saw so that he would deal with the alleged hypertrophy of administration.
