– In the years 1996-2000/2001, I studied five-year master's studies, but I did not defend my thesis because I got pregnant – said Kotula. She added that after many years she had to start “studying again at the Collegium Balticum in Szczecin, majoring in English philology.”

– I obtained a bachelor's degree, so I have higher education and I went to graduate studies at the Faculty of English at the Adam Mickiewicz University in PoznaÅ„ – explained the Minister of Equality.

Kotula: I don't have a master's degree

She emphasized that she had completed her studies in the sense that she had passed all the required exams. – However, I did not submit my thesis and did not defend my master's thesis, so I do not have a master's degree – she said. As she noted, she was prevented from doing so by the “sudden illness of a loved one.”

– Since it was brought to my attention on Friday that there was incorrect information about the master's degree on the Sejm website, as soon as I found out about this error, I asked the Sejm Chancellery for a correction and this correction was made – explained Kotula.

To note that this story is similar to that of the former president Aleksander KwaÅ›niewskireplied that in her case it was a simple mistake that she must have made unknowingly when she filled out “these forms” a few years ago.

– I have never visited this website, I have never applied for positions or functions requiring a master's degree. The fact that I was a student of the English department and that I have higher education is true, Kotula noted. She pointed out that she failed to defend her thesis “due to typical life reasons” and “there is no meaning behind it.”

Before the presidential elections in 1995, Aleksander KwaÅ›niewski assured that he had higher education and a master's degree. It turned out that this was not true. The case, at the request of a private person, was taken up by the Lublin prosecutor's office, which determined that the former president had been expelled from the fifth year of studies at the University of GdaÅ„sk. However, the prosecutor did not charge KwaÅ›niewski “due to the low social harmfulness of the act.”
