Former world champion challenges Wladimir Klitschko. “Everything is possible”
The Ukrainian returned in April 2017 to a fight with Anthony Joshua for the IBF, WBA and IBO heavyweight champion belts. He lost by technical knockout in the 11th round and retired from the sport. And although he remained adamant about his decision over the following years, recently there has been more and more speculation that he may fight again.
A year ago, promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk revealed that Klitschko was considering a rematch with Fury. This hasn't happened yet, but now there's someone willing to challenge him fighting. – Nothing is impossible. As we well know, people can do anything – admitted former WBC world champion Shannon Briggs in an interview with Sky Sports. – Klitschko is a tough guy. He was a world champion and is fighting for his country in a war that has killed so many people. It's a real legend, he added.
Shannon Briggs is currently 53 years old and his last fight was in 2016. He was then on a streak of six straight wins. The last time he lost was in October 2010, when he was outpointed by Vitali, the elder Klitschko brother. Now he would like to get revenge against Wladimir.
– I would love to fight him, he's an amazing guy – he explained. – Will he come back? Everything is possible, just like with a used car. You can restore it – change the tires, put in new spark plugs, a battery and it will run like new. It's the same back in the ring. Age doesn't matter, he said, motivating the Ukrainian to fight.
We often see on social media that the 48-year-old is in excellent physical shape despite the passage of time. He probably wouldn't have any problems preparing for a fight. And such skills cannot be forgotten. Klitschko holds the all-time record for the most days as heavyweight world champion – 4,382. Additionally, in 2011, together with his brother Vitali, they entered the Guinness Book of Records as the brothers with the most wins fights for the heavyweight title.
