Atomic power plant in Konin? Deputy Minister of Industry Wojciech Wrochna announced that Konin (Greater Poland Voivodeship) will be one of two preferred locations for the construction of a second nuclear power plant in Poland. The city will receive such a status in updated version of the Polish nuclear energy programwhich is to be published “on days”, as reported by Wrochna. The deputy minister also said that the decision on the construction site of the power plant will be taken by the government next year.
Positive assessment of the conditions in Konin: Wrochna spoke about the government's plans on Tuesday, February 18 in Konin, where he talked to the city authorities, president with Pak Piotr Woźny and representatives of local governments. The deputy minister emphasized that geological conditions, seismological and hydrological Konina stayed positively ratedalthough this does not mean that the power plant will be built in this place. It was previously reported that it could be located in Bełchatów. The deputy minister said that both places “meet some of the basic criteria”. However, further analyzes will be needed, on the basis of which the government will make the final decision.
Conversations with potential investors: The update of the Polish nuclear energy program is to initiate talks with entities that may be interested in investing in the power plant. – We want the investor and technology supplier to have an impact on where this investment will be located in order to Optimally select the location for technology – said Wojciech Wrochna. According to the current plans, the first nuclear power plant in Poland is to be built in the Pomeranian location Lubiatowo-Kopalino.
