Police officers from Konin (Greater Poland Voivodeship) detained a drunk 32-year-old woman who was driving a car and carrying her two children, aged six and eight. She was taken into custody and the children were placed in the care of their grandmother.
The report received by the Konin police on Saturday concerned a woman driving a Volvo who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Fifteen minutes after receiving this information, the police noticed the indicated car in the town of Rożek Krzymowski (Greater Poland Voivodeship).
– The driver was a 32-year-old resident of the Konin district. A breathalyzer test showed that she had over 1.5 per mille of alcohol in her body. What's more, her children – six and eight – were in the car – said the junior asp. Sylwia Król, spokeswoman for the police in Konin.
During the arrest, the police found “dried plants” and “crystalline substances” on the woman. The substances were secured for testing.
The children were placed in the care of their grandmother
The 32-year-old was taken into custody. Therefore, the children were handed over to their grandmother's care. A police investigation is underway to explain all the circumstances of this incident.
– The woman faces severe legal consequences, including charges for driving under the influence of alcohol and for exposing children who were in the vehicle to direct danger, as well as for possessing substances prohibited by law – the spokeswoman said.
For driving under the influence of alcohol, the court may impose a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to three years. In addition, it is mandatory to impose a driving ban or motor vehicles for a period of one to 10 years.
In turn, exposure to direct danger of loss of life or serious damage to health may result in imprisonment for up to 3 years.
