For unknown reasons, the 69-year-old drove off the A2 motorway onto the green belt and hit a nearby lamppost. The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident that occurred at the Kozanki Wielkie Passenger Service Center (Łódź Voivodeship).

The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident on the A2 motorway in the Uniejów commune (Łódź Voivodeship). The services received the report on Saturday around 3:30 p.m.

– Preliminary findings show that the driver of the passenger car, which was driving on the A2 motorway towards Poznań, for unknown reasons, at some point drove through the green belt into the Kozanki Wielkie MOP, hitting a lamp post on the way – said TVN24, chief inspector. The driver was trapped

– After the arrival of the fire brigade, a 69-year-old man who was driving the car was trapped in the vehicle, and a 57-year-old woman traveling with him was outside the vehicle – said Brig. Radosław Ogrodowczyk, spokesman for the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Poddębice.

He said that firefighters first started gaining access to the trapped driver. They then evacuated him from the vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger were conscious and were transferred to emergency medical teams. – The man was transported by an Air Ambulance helicopter to a hospital in Łódź, while the woman was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Poddębice – added Ogrodowczyk.

The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the police. Blood was taken from the driver for testing.
