A drunk driver without a driving license entered two pedestrian groups. Two people died on the spot, the third died in the hospital. The prosecutor's office in Kozienice sent an indictment to the court against the 43-year-old.
A spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Radom, Aneta Góźdź, announced on Tuesday that Sławomir S. faces five to 20 years in prison. The man is arrested. The indictment went to the District Court in Kozienice.
Two people died on the spot, the third died in the hospital
The accident occurred in the evening of August 31 last year on an unlit section of the provincial road in Magnuszew. As reported by the police, a Ford, a resident of the poviat. Kozienickiego entered people walking on the road. First, he hit three pedestrians, two 55-year-olds and a 37-year-old, and then a few 36-year-olds.
The 36-year-olds died on the spot (resident of the Żyrardów poviat and a resident of the Radom poviat). Three pedestrians, two 55-year-old and 37-year-old were transported to the hospital. Despite the efforts of medics, a 55-year-old, a resident of Kłodzki, died in the hospital.
Drunk driver and without a driving license
The driver had about 1.22 per mille of alcohol in his body and drove a vehicle without permission. He lost them in 2010 for driving in a state of intoxication. In September 2020, he was once again stopped for police control when he was driving the vehicle without using the seat belts. At that time, Kozienice police officers submitted to the court a request for punishment for driving without authorization, for which he was banned from driving for a year.
He was driving too fast
Investigative findings show that Sławomir S. was driving at a speed of 122 km/h. In the expert's assessment of the road, the man's intoxication of the man had a significant impact on the course of the accident, because such a high alcohol concentration in the body caused the occurrence of symptoms in the form of excessive extension of the driver's response time. – The perpetrator, driving the vehicle at a speed limit speed, deprived of the possibility of avoiding an accident – said Prosecutor Góźdź.
The suspect confessed to the alleged act and gave extensive explanations. – He pointed to the circumstances in which the accident occurred and admitted that he was drinking alcohol before the incident – said the spokeswoman.
Accused passenger
The prosecutor also accused the participant of the accident Jacek L., who was traveling with Sławomir S. as a passenger. The 26-year-old escaped from the scene of the accident without helping the injured persons. The man will answer with a free foot. He faces up to three years in prison.
