The former Hungarian judge Adrienn launted on Wednesday in the European Parliament regarding the granting of asylum to the former Deputy Minister of Justice Marcin Romanowski. In her opinion, this decision is risky and undermines the trust between European Union countries. She also explained why the Hungarian court has not yet followed the European arrest warrant.
Adrienn Lucz, who for over 20 years was a judge of the Hungarian criminal court and gave up after the changes introduced by the Hungarian authorities in the local judicial system, took part in Wednesday at the EP in a conference, organized by the European People's Party (EPL) of Michał Wawrykiewicz and the Dutch green Tineke A strik, and dedicated to the situation of judges and the justice system on Hungary.

The decision of Hungary “undermines the trust of the Member States”
Lacza referred to the asylum for Marcin Romanowski in Hungary. Emphasizing that it was her personal opinion, she stated that Hungary's decision is risky, because she opens the door for criminals in all countries, and also undermines the trust of the Member States to the Hungarian justice system. “If we can't trust each other as Member States in matters related to the justice dimension, then there will be no trust in other matters – warned the judge. In her opinion, “Hungary was on a dangerous path.”
When asked why the Hungarian court did not comply with the European arrest warrant issued after Romanowski, Lucza said that it was not the judgments that make decisions themselves, but the sought must be first brought before the face of the court by the police. – It is in the hands of the Hungarian police and internal minister, to whom the services are subject to determining the place of stay of the wanted and bring him to court. Otherwise, this one has no legal grounds to decide to fulfill the European arrest warrant – explained Hungarian.
At last week's PE plenary session in Strasbourg, the Hungarian MEP of far -right patriots for Europe and one of the founders of Fidesz, Tamas Deutsch commented on the granting of Asylum to Romanowski, saying that “once again countless Polish patriots are forced to flee” and assuring that Hungary will take ” all persecuted “. – Everyone who is forced to escape from their country because of political persecution can count on Hungary. (…) We will accept politically persecuted Polish and we will give them political asylum – said the MEP.
Marcin Romanowski obtained asylum in Hungary
On December 9 last year, the District Court for Warsaw Mokotów decided on a three -month detention for Romanowski. The MP did not appear at the court meeting, and the prosecutor, the investigation, issued a warrant for him. It turned out that Romanowski fled to Hungary. On December 19, he got a political asylum there. Earlier on that day, the District Court in Warsaw announced the issue of a European arrest warrant against this policy. An interpol was also applied for a Red Nota MP.
Former Deputy Minister of Justice, and now PiS MP Marcin Romanowski is suspected in the investigation of the Justice Fund. Romanowski's crimes were to be, among others, “in indicating subordinate employees of entities that should win competitions for subsidies from the Justice Fund.”
The politician was also to be ordered to improve wrong offers before their application and allowed the grant to grant entities that did not meet formal and material requirements. The allegations also apply to the appropriation of money in the total amount of over PLN 107 million and the attempt to appropriated money in the amount of over PLN 58 million.
