In the ministry, I feel like a spokesman for Polish farmers. I will not forgive myself if today, with the opportunities we have and this large social mandate, we do not give 120 percent of ourselves, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michał Kołodziejczak in “One on One”. He referred to his earlier critical comments towards the organization of work in the ministry and Minister Czesław Siekierski. – Since I said these words, I have not had the opportunity to talk to the minister – he said. He added that he had asked for a meeting and was waiting for it.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michał Kołodziejczak was asked in “One on One” about his critical statements in the media about the ministry, the organization of work in it and the minister Czesław Siekierski. Kołodziejczak said in media statements that employees “double their work and there is decision-making paralysis due to such an increase” and that “the Ministry of Agriculture should do much more within a year.”
On Saturday, he argued on TVN24 that “when talking about employees and their number, he is talking about work organization.” – If work is well organized and many processes are well organized, it can be said that there could even be more employees – he added.
To the comment that he had previously mentioned dismissing 1/3 of them, Kołodziejczak replied that “every employee must be used well.” – I'm not saying that they have no competences, that they are not suitable, or that they have bad skills. I am talking about ensuring that each of these employees is directed in their work so well that they can be used to do good for Polish agriculture – he said.
“Sometimes I also have the impression that I could do more. But I need to have the tools”
Kołodziejczak also commented on the criticism of Siekierski himself, who said that he lacked bold decisions and lacked a plan for agriculture.
– Minister Siekierski also entrusts decisions to various people. The minister knows exactly what I am talking about. In the ministry, I feel like an advocate of Polish farmers, an advocate of their interests, and I look at it all exactly as I once did. And I will not forgive myself if today, with the opportunities we have and with this large social mandate, we do not give 120 percent of ourselves, he said.
– I always demand as much as possible from myself and my superiors. So that the effect of our work is as long-lasting and as good as possible. Every employee, including me, must be put to good use. Because sometimes I also feel like I could do more myself. But I also need to have the right tools for this, he argued.
Kołodziejczak: I did not have the opportunity to talk to Minister Siekierski
– I clearly signaled my observations a few weeks ago. This is what I agreed on at the Ministry of Agriculture. That is, for help, for joint action and, if necessary, for paying attention to what needs to be changed and what decisions should be made. I drew attention to this, and it is confirmed in the documents sent to Minister Siekierski, Kołodziejczak continued.
He added that over the last year he had “tracked down at least one such, one could say pest, saboteur in the Ministry of Agriculture.”
Kołodziejczak was also asked whether he had talked to Minister Siekierski. – No, he replied. – Since I said these words, I have not had the opportunity to talk to Minister Siekierski – he clarified. He also said that he asked his boss for a meeting. – I'm waiting. I think there is still time before Christmas to talk, he said.
