Since mid-July, TVP viewers have been able to watch concerts from the “Summer with Radio and Polish Television” summer tour every Saturday, which take place in a different city every week. On August 24, the event was broadcast from Tarnów, and the stage was attended by, among others, Lady Pank, Zakopower, Urszula, Kamil Bednarek and Michal Szpak. The singer, who is known for his strong stage image, did not mince his words this time either.

Michał Szpak's appearance on TVP caused a storm

Michał Szpak's performance on Polish Television was exceptional for several reasons. One of them was the fact that the vocalist had not appeared on the public broadcaster's air for several years. It can be safely said that he returned to TVP with a bang. Szpak, who performed the song “Gaja” during the “Lato z Radiem i Telewizją Polska” concert, he entered the stage in a spectacular black outfit and a headdress somewhat resembling a crown. In front of the vocalist, there were dancers, held on leashes by Szpak. Although many people praised the musician for his performance, there were also comments from people who were slightly outraged by this form of expression. “It's scary to be scared, it's such a terrifying spectacle.” “Dressing up as cats and dogs, who and what is it for,” “Like hell, black and scary,” viewers wrote in comments on social media.

Michał Szpak explained the unusual staging

The confusion surrounding the performance also reached Michał Szpak. In an interview with TVP, the vocalist decided to explain that what he presented on stage was not accidental. – There is a lot of beauty in the constant battle with inner demons. In life and on stage, you have to know when to dominate and when to let go. Sometimes you have to let yourself be carried away, break free from the leash and show the world your inner fire – said the musician. Choreographer Santi Bello, who worked on the staging with Szpak, also spoke on the matter. – It's a very sensual show; the dancers take on the roles of inner demons that we often try to keep in check, not letting them break free – he commented.
